Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. What is a refuge?  It is defined as a place of shelter, protection or safety.  Some days I feel like I have been under attack from the moment my feet hit the floor in the morning until the moment my head hits the pillow at night.  On these days, I can almost see the fiery darts of the evil one flying at me from every direction; this was one of those days.  By the end of the day I was in desperate need of a place […]

And the walls fell down.

Are you a wall builder? I spent the last week building a wall to close in part of my garage to make a nice work space for me and my wife. There are many reason for the wall:  to help keep it cool, to help limit the noise level from out side and  it looks much better than the garage door. What does it take to build a wall? There are a lot of things required to build a physical wall. You need to pick a location for the wall. Once this has been found you must build the base […]

What’s LOVE got to do with it?

What do you really love? Wife? Family? Church? Things? What is love?  Love is a choice a decision you make, not something you may feel. Feelings are fickle and can change quickly without notice. Do you really love? I have to work at this. You are supposed to love everyone. That is a hard choice to make. It is something we need to work on daily. I have to work really hard at this one. What do you think love is?  For me love is a choice I made. For example I love my wife. Is it because she is […]

Four Simple Words

“Faith never knows where it’s being led, but it loves and knows the One who is leading.” Oswald Chambers How could four simple words impact me so much? They are found in 1 Samuel 14:1 and if you blink, you just might miss them. One day Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come let us go over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” But he did not tell his father. Because of Jonathan’s initiative and willingness to listen he, with the help of one other man, defeated the Philistines. The […]

Over Consumption.

We are the most over consuming country in the world. I think we need to change that. Not only should we try to live minimalist in the things we own, but also in the way we consume. As americans we over consume everything. Food Entertainment Shopping almost everything we do in excess. We are a country of over doing it. We eat too much causing all sorts of diseases. I would say this is easy to see as we are the fattest country in the world. We eat too much while having to be entertained constantly. When that is not […]

Are you perfect? If you said yes to that question you may want to seek help, because it is possible you are hallucinating. None of us are perfect. Sometimes we try to act like we are. Why are we not perfect? The simple and to the point answer is that we are all sinners. Romans 3:23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, How do we become more Christ like? Knowledge alone alone will not produce a Christ like character. The knowledge we gain from God’s Word must impact our hearts and convict us of the need […]

A few minutes at Monte Ne Hotel.

Me and the wife went to have our pictures taken at the old Monte Ne Hotel. Well what is left of it anyway. We do this about once a year, get our pictures taken not go to Monte Ne come on keep up. People just cannot handle the awesomeness that comes from us in pictures. It was a cold day. We made it through with only minor injuries. Not really, there was no injuries. A few hundred pictures later we got out of the cold and headed home. Some minor editing, cause we are so awesome. The wife had to […]

Did you ask?

Many times we pray for others. We may pray: Help them find a job. Help them with this medical problem. We occasionally even ask others to pray for us. This seems fairly normal, but do we ever stop and pray for ourselves? This is not to say that we stop praying for others and only pray for ourselves. Just to say that if we have a need, that we can ask GOD to help with that need. There is no need to small or to big. I know this seems like a no brainer but I find myself not even […]

Somewhere Between Delicious & Delilah

I love to look up the definition of words I have read or heard, even when I already have a general idea of what it means. While reading today I came upon the word delight, which I found sandwiched in the dictionary between the words delicious and Delilah. This is how Webster defines the word delight: to give great pleasure, to be highly pleased; rejoice. Armed with this knowledge, I headed to Scripture to see if this would change my interpretation of several familiar verses. My first stop was Psalms 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give […]

Why should you forgive? I think this is a very important question for everyone. What is forgiveness? Forgiveness means to pardon or end of blame. To forgive someone would be to stop blaming them for something they did to you or that you perceive they have done. Will you forget most likely not, but if you have forgiven them you should forget. To forget would not necessarily mean we do not remember, but that we do not bring it up again. Forgiving someone is more for you than them. Holding a grudge or bitterness can and will eventually destroy you. […]

The Art of Being Still

Some people are known for their laid back personalities-I am NOT one of these people.  I live my life at one speed, mach 7.  I am always on the move, even when I’m at home, because I want to be so efficient that not one moment of my day is wasted.  Proverbs 31:27 (She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness) had become my modus operandi.  This quality makes for a hard worker but is not helpful when trying to learn the art of being still.  I have always wanted to be a […]

The Origins of the word Xmas.

The abbreviation of Xmas for Christmas is neither modern nor disrespectful. The Oxford English Dictionary documents the use of this abbreviation back to 1551. Undoubtedly it was employed before that. Why do we think this is a new and vulgar representation of the word Christmas? It seems to stem from the erroneous belief that the letter X is used to stand for the word Christ because of its resemblance to a cross, or that the abbreviation was deliberate, to take the Christ out of Christmas.  This usage is nearly as old as Christianity itself, and its origins Greek. The first […]

Laid Off

September 30th 2009 a day that will live in infamy, it was a fun and exciting time for all. TeleComp my former employer decided I was no longer a valued employee and laid me off. Was I angry? Yes I felt betrayed by the owners. I was always told that I would always have a job no matter what. Well that turned out to be not true. I have come to realize that it was more than likely the best thing for me and my family. For a short time I felt like the 11 years I spent there was a […]

Brainsick sapient?

what does it take to be great? what is the secret ingredient? must you be completely sane and the so called normal? or should you be a little crazy with a touch of wisdom? interesting questions. what is normal? is it just what the majority says it is? the same goes for sanity. does it just consist of what the majority says it is or should be? does everyone have the capability of being a great one, or is it an unattinable notion for most? does everyone want greatness? do you?
